Functional Blepharoplasty (Eyelift)

Functional blepharoplasty or eyelid tuck is a procedure performed on patients with droopy eyelids that interfere with their vision and obstruct upper view. If a patient meets criteria for vision loss due to excess of skin, drooping of eyelids, the procedure may be covered by medical insurance. If the improvement sought is purely for cosmetic reasons, and there is no visual impairment, then the procedure is billed out of pocket. Only upper eyelild blepharoplasty is usually covered by insurances. In extremely rare cases lower eyelid blpeharoplasty is considered medically necessary.
